Darius Rucker has been one of the music world's most avid golfers since the mid-'90s when he broke out with Hootie & The Blowfish, so it's no surprise he's a regular at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in California almost every year. Even though he's a familiar face at the event, Darius always gets a little starstruck by another famous attendee -- Clint Eastwood.
"I've been watching Clint Eastwood movies my whole life even up to the Gran Torino, which I thought was one of the greatest movies I ever saw," Darius tells ABC News Radio. "You know, and here's Clint Eastwood, just having a beer with you, having a glass of wine with you. Laughing, being funny."
Pebble Beach is also the place Darius got to fulfill his lifelong dream of singing the Huey Lewis hit "Workin' for a Livin'" with Huey Lewis himself. Darius was performing at an event honoring the volunteers at Pebble Beach when he decided to perform the song with the backing band.
Darius says, "So, I go over to Huey. I was gonna tell him I'm about to do 'Workin' for a Livin',' and he freaked out. He's like, 'No way,' and I'm like, 'No man, I've always wanted to sing it." 'But dude!' He's like, 'Yeah!'"
At that point, Huey goes and finds a harmonica and takes the stage behind Darius to back him up.
"He sings the harmonies and plays harmonica," Darius says. "Man, what a great musical moment for me. That was an unbelievable moment."
So, did Darius pull it off singing "Workin' for a Livin'" in front of Huey?
"Yeah, I killed it," Darius admits with a laugh.
Jake Owen and Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley also took part in this year's Pebble Beach Celebrity Pro-Am.
